Walgett beat the Newcastle All Blacks in the grand final 28 - 16 at the end of three days of competition.
Boasting former Knights player Robbie O'Davis, Newcastle lead 10 - 4 at half time, but a strong game upfront by Melbourne Storm forward George Rose helped Walgett to get the win.
Rose, who has won a NRL premiership with Manly, was emotional when speaking to NITV after the game.
"This is the best feeling, the best feeling, better than any other feeling in rugby league," he said.
"All credit to the All Blacks boys they always play hard they, they always play strong and they deserved the win too."
Walgett will now host the event next year as the winners of the competition.
The knockout has been held in the Newcastle region for past three years after the Newcastle Yowies won the trophy three years running.
